Fail Your Way to Success

Our biggest failure can also be our
greatest success. This may seem like a paradox, but it happens
more than we think.
This week my good friend interviewed for a
job that is perfect for her, and she was asked to describe her
career successes and “mistakes.” She answered that earning her
PhD while raising two teenagers was one of her biggest
accomplishments and greatest failures because she lost family
time in order to achieve her dream.

Stand Up For What You Believe

One of the most important lessons a parent
can teach his/her children is to stand up for what they believe
in. In other words, be assertive, which essentially entails
believing in and standing up for yourself.
Unfortunately, being assertive tends to get a bad rap.
However, being assertive is not a bad thing. There tends
to be a negative connotation associated with being assertive
because many people equate it with being aggressive.
As adults, each of us has certain basic rights; however, we
often forget them. Being assertive entails exercising these
rights when they are infringed upon.

Join Us for Relay for Life

Just a few weeks ago, a coaching client of
mine named Becky told me she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I was devastated for her, but she was very calm and courageous
in the face of this new challenge. It was at that moment,
sitting in the coaching office with Becky, that I decided to
dedicate the laps I walk in this year’s Relay for Life to Becky
Von Ohlen. I believe Becky can inspire others who face this
terrible disease or have loved ones with the disease, as I know
her courage has already inspired me.
