Leader with Horse Sense

By Steven L. Anderson, Ph.D., MBA

Laura Tyler is a leader against all odds.  She had a tough childhood.  Her parents divorced when she was young.  As she went back and forth between her parents homes she struggled emotionally.  She felt unwanted.  She wondered what her future would be.  She didn’t know what the future held, but she knew that she was hurting. So, she did what most kids in that situation do.  She got into trouble.  As with most kids in this type of situation, her future teetered on a knife’s edge

Fortunately for her, her mother saw what was happening and moved to the country and bought her a horse for her birthday surprise.  Just about any adolescent girl would love this and Laura was no exception.  So the horse was purchased, and Laura’s life was changed forever.  Finally, she had a purpose.  Finally, she felt needed.  Almost overnight she went from a trouble-maker who spent her time in town to a country girl who hung out with her horse and other kids in 4H and FFA (Future Farmers of America).  (continue story)
